Philodendron ‘Dark Lord’ (Grower's Choice)
The Philodendron Dark Lord is a popular hybrid Philodendron with unknown parentage. Some plant enthusiasts believe it's the same as Philodendron Ace of Spades or King of Spades.
One thing is for sure; it's a beauty! Some of the leaves on Philodendron Dark Lord are almost jet black. The leaves emerge a bronze tone and then harden off to black, while some are dark burgundy others are greenish. It's truly magical! For those who love darker leaves, this is the philodendron for you!
Grow Philodendron Dark Lord in a medium or bright-light spot for maximum color. It also makes an excellent landscape plant, although ours are grown for indoor decor.
Water philodendrons when the potting medium dries. While Philodendrons are from Latin American rainforests, we have a different environment at home, and many plant parents kill their plants from overwatering, which can lead to root rot.
Fertilize throughout spring and summer with a general-purpose houseplant fertilizer or slow release. (Follow the directions on the fertilizer packaging to know how much fertilizer to use and how often to apply it.)
Philodendrons also appreciate warm humid temperatures so make sure to protect them from cold drafts. Like many aroids, they need above-average humidity to do their best, but can acclimate to other conditions.

Heat packs and complete winter protection are available for purchase. They can be added to the order (filter by 'winter protection.") Heat packs should be purchased if you are experiencing cold or freezing temperatures. Please ensure that you will be available to receive your plant if you are experiencing cold temperatures. Heat packs only protect your plant in transit, not for extended periods.
