Anthurium warocqueanum (Narrow Dark Form Queen)
  • Anthurium warocqueanum (Narrow Dark Form Queen)

Anthurium warocqueanum is also known as the Queen Anthurium and is a collector’s must-have! Their elongated coriaceous, dark leaves are striking. The species can produce leaves up to 4 feet (1.22 meters) in length.

This is a stunning, long-leafed, dark form and lobed four-leaf beauty!

Anthurium warocqueanum requires moderate to higher humidity, but not too high (above 45% and below 80%). They require more attention than other Anthuriums and the non-dark form, making them rarer since they can't easily be mass-produced.

They sometimes suffer from minor leaf damage; this is quite common with the dark-form Queen Anthurium.  However, this is only cosmetic damage and doesn't mean they aren't thriving. It's usually due to the humidity being too low.

One critical care tip is to not place the Anthurium Warocqueanum in an enclosed space without airflow, make sure to provide proper air circulation,

Anthurium warocqueanum is native to Colombia’s rainforest. It’s an epiphyte and, like most epiphytic aroids, prefers an airy medium that is well-draining. They do well in perlite, coco coir, orchid barks, and sphagnum moss. They can be grown in only sphagnum moss but will require more nutrients.

Fertilize during the growing seasons; spring and summer into early fall using a slow-release fertilizer. Other fertilizers, such as liquid form, if you aren't experienced in using them can burn the leaves.

We recommend this plant to an experienced collector or grower.
