Homalomena rubescens Variegated
Homalomenas are tropical plants endemic to Colombia, Costa Rica, and Southeast Asia. They are commonly known as Queen of Heats because of their heart shaped leaves. Their heart shaped foliage and purple/pink stems make them irresistible.
The variegated variety is a recent introduction and sought after by collectors. They are favored because of their beautiful leaves and variegation, but selected because they are easy to care for. They can resist lower light conditions since they are generally found on rain forest floors.
To keep Homalomenas happy, do not let them dry out completely; maintain on the moist side but do not keep the soil soggy or the roots will rot.
