  • Biophilic Design Short Film | Plant The Jungle

Biophilic Design Discover the Latina behind the plants Damarys Mora Crawford. Immerse yourself in this short film, as she unveils the inspiration that ignited her exploration of biophilic design. Join us on a journey through her creative evolution, where nature's beauty, biophilic design and resilience converge. Experience the essence of biophilic design through her eyes and be inspired to infuse your surroundings with the harmony of nature. The Short Film "When Jacopo Fantastichini contacted me for a collaboration on a short film centered around biophilic design, I was pleasantly taken aback. As an Italian filmmaker based in Miami, his interest in bringing our story to life intrigued me. The question lingered: What draws him to capture our narrative and the story of nature and design? This inquiry led to an engaging exploration for PlantPop, highlighting the compelling appeal of biophilic design. The filming process turned out to be quite chaotic. The greenhouse location proved to be too far, and the shop, situated within River Landing Shops and Residences, was bustling with activity. After deciding to film at the shop, inside Capsule, and scheduling it before opening hours, an unexpected challenge emerged. My daughter fell ill and was hospitalized so we needed to reschedule. On the day of filming, unbeknownst to us, a lively Zumba class took place every morning, its energetic music bustling through the walls, disrupting our plans. We continued with filming eventhough at times I was distracted, but when I started to tell the story of my family, my journey, and my connection with nature I was able to drown out the noise. I hold a profound sense of gratitude towards Jacopo and PlantPop for shining a spotlight on horticulturists, biophilic designers, individuals within the plant industry and people that just love plants. Their efforts have not only brought attention to these vital contributors but also celebrated their invaluable role in our ecosystem. I hope you enjoy it!"

  • Plant Care | Plant The Jungle

PLANT CARE TIPS We care about our jungle community and want to help you get the most of your collection. Read on to discover great plant ideas, tips for beginners, and advice for more seasoned collectors. STARTING A RARE PLANT COLLECTION To start a rare plant collection, we recommend you start small, don't purchase multiple rare plants at once. Begin with an affordable plant, preferably in the Philodendron family such as Philodendron gloriosum or Philodendron 'Florida Ghost." Keep in mind your light conditions as well as the average temperature in your home. Do your research to understand the plant's light and water requirements. Check the product page for additional plant care tips. TO REPOT OR NOT, THAT IS THE QUESTION It's tempting to want to repot a new plant upon receipt...DON'T. Your plant has been on a long journey from our jungle to your home. Your plant while in transit hasn't been receiving any light and has been exposed to fluctuations in temperature. Just like you need to stretch and acclimate after a long flight so does your new plant baby. It's best to wait a few weeks at least to repot. Many plants can live comfortably and happy in their nursery pot for several years. PLANT MAIL DOS AND DON’TS DO: Track your package DO: Open your box immediately upon delivery DO NOT: Leave plant mail outside in freezing temperatures or heat; bring them in right away. DO: Remove damaged leaves DO: Add heat packs if you live in temperatures colder than 50 degrees DO NOT: Water your plant immediately unless it is very dry DO NOT: Repot right away

  • Philodendrons

< Back Philodendrons Light Medium to Bright Indirect Light Water When Potting Medium Dries Out Unique Features Variegation, Diverse Leaf Shapes including Velvet, Vining, Trailing, Upright Level: Beginner, Intermediate How to Grow You can grow philodendrons almost anywhere in your home that has medium to bright light. Some varieties will adapt to lower light conditions, but will not grow as quickly. For new plant parents, use a slow release fertilizer during the growing season (spring & summer). For more advanced care, use a houseplant fertilizer either bi-weekly or monthly depending on the species or variety. Carefully follow the packaging's instructions. Remember with fertilizer, less is more. Use a well draining potting medium, preferably coco coir, perlite and orchid bark. You can use a pre-mixed medium, for best results try to use one that is not too compact or high peat based. Water philodendrons when potting medium dries out, some may be left to dry out almost completely. Make sure to not overwater your philodendrons, they are sensitive to root rot. Some Philodendrons are climbing, vining and trailing. Previous Next
